Eugene C. Rich, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Eugene C. Rich, M.D. FACP is a senior fellow at Mathematica Policy Research. Rich’s research interests include national health care policy, training in primary care medicine, and the influence of the practice environment on the decision-making of health professionals.
His honors include past President of the Society of General Internal Medicine and sharing the 2001 Article of the Year Award for the Academy for Health Services Research and Health Policy. Selected for a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship in 2006, Dr Rich worked with the Health subcommittee staff of the House Committee on Ways and Means. Among his accomplishments on the Hill, Dr Rich helped staff Ways and Means Committee work on legislation to reform physician payment and to expand Federal initiatives in comparative effectiveness research.
In 2008 Dr Rich continued on assignment to the NIH, serving as Senior Advisor for Program Outreach and Coordination to NCRR as well as working with the NIH Director's Office of Science Policy Analysis on effectiveness research policy options, among other issues. In 2009 was a Scholar in Residence at the AAMC, where he focused on scientific issues relevant to health care reform, including comparative effectiveness and health care delivery research. |
