Robert Mayberry, Ph.D.
Robert Mayberry has recently joined Baylor Health Care System Center for Health Care Research as Director of the Section of Epidemiology and Director of Health Disparities Research.
Receiving his doctoral training in epidemiology, Dr. Mayberry has more than 20 years of experience in research, teaching, program evaluation, and policy analysis. He has served in several academic and governmental positions including the assistant dean, University of South Carolina, and senior epidemiologist for minority health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
A nationally noted scientist and scholar, Dr. Mayberry’s area of expertise and scholarship include health care quality improvement, racial and ethnic variations in health status and healthcare outcomes, and epidemiologic principles and methods in health services research, program planning and program evaluation. Having served and chaired many local and state commissions and task forces, Dr. Mayberry is active in local, state, and national health services and public health organizations, including AcademyHealth (Annual Research Meeting Planning Committee) and the American Public Health Association (Epidemiology and Medical Care Sections Planning Committees). He is an appointed member of the Georgia Governor’s Council on Maternal and Infant Health and chairs its Evaluation and Strategy Workgroups. Dr. Mayberry also serves as an expert consultant and scientific reviewer for several academic, private and federal organizations and reviewer for several peer-review journals. He received a B.A. degree from Berea College, a M.S. degree from Alabama A & M University, and a M.P.H. degree and Ph.D. degree (epidemiology) from the University of California at Berkley. |
