Our mission is to build and advance the field of health services research. To accomplish this goal, we recommend that Congress adopt appropriate funding levels for the federal agencies that support health services research, as determined by our Advocacy Committee. We also advocate on positions that could limit the ability of health services researchers to conduct their work. For example, we have been actively involved in the implementation of the health information privacy regulation required by the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.

Our funding chart shows what has already been decided within the current appropriations cycle. Our press releases, letters, and our testimony to the Appropriations Committee are important tools used to communicate our message to Congress. We also hold briefings on important policy issues for members of Congress and their staff.
