Mary Durham

Mary L. Durham, Ph.D. is director, The Center for Health Research for Kaiser Permanente Northwest, Hawaii and Southeast, and vice president (research) for Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. She is a medical sociologist whose research career has focused on the health care of people with chronic, disabling conditions, especially those with severe mental disorders. She has designed and evaluated programs to enhance the health and functional status of older persons in HMOs and is Principle Investigator of National Institute of Drug Abuse coordinating center for the Oregon Clinical Treatment Network. She served as a Commissioner of the American Bar Association, as a member of its Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law, and as a member of National Institute of Mental Health National Advisory Mental Health Council. She served on the Board of Directors for the Association for Health Services Research (Academy Health), the Board of Self Enhancement, Inc., the Boards of Group Health Community Foundation and Kaiser Permanente Health Alternatives. At present, she serves on the State of Oregon 's Commission for Health Care and Accessibility, and serves as a board member for the Coalition for Health Services Research.

Dr. Durham is Principle Investigator of The Center for Health Research's Clinical and Translation Science Award and Associate Director of the Oregon Health Sciences University/Center for Health Research Clinical and Translation Science Award , and Principle Investigator of the Coordinating Center for the Work, Family and Health Network

Dr. Durham is a professor of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University and adjunct professor of sociology at Portland State University.
