Third CR Clears Congress
On December 13, Congress passed a one-week extension of the current continuing resolution before it expired the following day. The stopgap spending measure funds at fiscal 2007 levels the majority of the federal government through Dec. 21 and extends through that date the State Children's Health Insurance Program.
Democratic leaders continue to work on an omnibus spending package that approximates the fiscal 2008 spending targets set by President Bush in February. The House is expected to take up the bill early next week.
