Spending Package Clears Conference
On November 1 the House-Senate conference approved its conference agreement for Labor-HHS-Education and Military Construction (MilCon) and Veterans Affairs (VA) fiscal 2008 appropriations. The "mini-bus" spending package would provide $215.4 billion in discretionary spending - $150.7 billion for Labor-HHS-Education and $64.7 billion for MilCon-VA. President Bush is expected to veto the measure, even though the MilCon-VA measure was originally thought to be "veto-proof" for political reasons.
The House will take up the measure on Tuesday, November 6 where it is expected to pass-though without a veto-proof majority.
