Senate Approves VA Appropriations Bill

The Senate Sept. 6 approved the FY 2008 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill. The Senate bill provides $500 million for VA Medical and Prosthetic Research, which includes funding for VA's Health Services Research and Development Service. Assuming the proportion of funds invested in HSR remains consistent at 15.5 percent of total funding for Medical and Prosthetic Research, funding for health services research will be approximately $77 million; a $13 million increase over FY 2007 estimated funding levels.
